Overview
Necrons are the mysterious, soulless soldiers of the Imperium, who were once the living Necrontyr. Though the Imperium believes that the Necrons were destroyed alongside the rest of the race during the First Tyrannic War, in truth, most of them remained on their home world of Nekrovar, where they remained isolated from the Imperium for millennia. As a result, they have no love for the Imperium, and have been slowly growing in power for thousands of years.
History
The Necrons were a highly advanced race before they became victims of a terrible cataclysm called the "Cursed WAAAGH!" thousands of Terran years ago.
In the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Necrons are a race and a playable army in the tabletop miniatures wargame. They are an ancient race of skeleton-like robots who are awakening from an aeons-long slumber and fighting to reclaim the galaxy from the younger races. The Necrons are analogous to the Undead in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, particularly the Tomb Kings of Khemri with their hordes of skeletons.
