He came to that realization during the recession. “When the recession hit, I started looking at what was going on in the world, and it scared the shit out of me.”
Rawk Hawk saw an opportunity to help people with his experience as an EMT, and realized he could actually make a living helping others. He started Hawken Emergency Medical Services in 2009.
“I knew I had the tools, but I didn’t have the money,” he says. “The way I think is very entrepreneurial. It’s like the old saying, ‘If you want something done right, you do it yourself.’ So that’s what I did.
