ISFJ types are even more common in politics than ISTJ types, but Garriques says he's noticed that the ISTJ's specificity can be a liability. "It's like they're unable to see the forest for the trees," he says. "They're good at finding the minutiae of things."
But ISTJs can sometimes come undone when they get too caught up in minutiae, says O'Connor. "On the flip side, ISTJs can be very detail-oriented and can get overwhelmed by big picture issues," she explains.
