I'm Catholic and very much disagree with your first paragraph. In the past thirty years, I've met people of that description who have been a great help to me, and I've met people of all types who have been pretty awful. You can't tell much from one person's personality. Maybe it's just in my head than you can judge from one person's personality how many Catholics there are in general.
I'm not judging by one person, I'm judging by what I've met.
It's true that you can't tell anything about a person by the way they talk on the internet, but I think that's what the internet is for: to meet people in real life and find out for yourself whether you like them or not.
The first thing we learn about the internet is that it's an unreliable place. That's why we check our facts and our sources before we post anything.
