Joey personality type is ESTP, a result of a dominant ESFJ mother and a less-dominant ISFP father. Both types have strong vision and practicality, but Joey’s degree of extraversion is a bit less than other ESTPs, so he has to be more thoughtful about how he goes about things. When I asked him what his nickname was, he said it was “The Blunt One.” His first day of work he drove home at 4:45 p.m., but because he wasn’t able to get any sleep the night before, he had an argument with his wife. He was angry at her for not having made him dinner, angry at himself for not having made his own dinner, and angry at his coworkers for not having made him lunch.
I asked Joey if he thought that his ESTP type had anything to do with why he was angry at his coworkers. He said, “I felt like they were all looking down on me.” This is classic ESTP behavior. ESTPs are very clear-sighted (the vision part of the acronym), but there is a tendency to take other people’s behavior personally.
