Carlson personality type is ISTP, so since she was raised as an ISTP, she doesn’t see much room for a dominant Si or Se, or a Te that is not a dominant Te.
Even though I would recommend that a Jungian take a look at the types of their parents, I do not state this as a requirement. I find that the personality types of parents do not always match those of their children. Sometimes they match, sometimes they don’t. In this case, the ISTP personality type of the mother and the ISFP personality type of the father match.
In my experience, people with ISTP personality types tend to go from one-sided to two-sided thinking as time goes on and they mature. They tend to see the world as black and white and tend to be very straightforward and logical. Thus, they can easily pick up on the Si and Se of their parents and dislike them, often without realizing that it is because they are Si and Se.
I’ve seen it happen many times.
