This article is about the model that I created for myself in 1967 to explain my own type, which was then called ESTJ (Extroverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging). I observed that there was a great deal of confusion about the various types; some people thought that there were only four types (yes, I know, I still do) while others thought there were at least five or six. Since I had observed that my own type was rare, I decided to take on the job of describing it. The result was the book "The Different Faces of Man." This was followed by "The Different Faces of Woman," which presented the female form of type. These books caused quite a stir in the psychological world. To my astonishment, I found that certain key psychologists were not at all interested in what I had to say. They treated my work as an invitation to chaos. It really was not helpful to their theories! I don't think many people realize how important it is to maintain order within the mind.
