Josef K. personality type is INTJ, according to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The book also represented a betrayal of what I stood for in my teaching. In one of my courses, I had a student criticize a question on a test because it was “too easy.” It makes me cringe to think about it now.
It was an INTJ who wrote a review of my book on Amazon.com. I had never met this person and never even heard of the Myers-Briggs test before, but he began his review with this sentence: “I recently took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test and discovered that I am an INTJ.” He then proceeded to describe his personality type in great detail, and how it would help him in his career. I was shocked. Who else had taken the test? Was this an example of Myers-Briggs’ popularity? Was it a good thing?
I began to read about Myers-Briggs, and was shocked to learn that there are more than 160 types. What do they look like? What are their strengths? They are, after all, scientific. They are not subject to debate or opinion.
