Johnson explains that ISTJs are often expected to make their own decisions and follow a system of rules.
“The ISTJ personality type is often described as a ‘by-the-book’ personality type,” she says. “They are very conscious of the rules, regulations and roles that have been set out for them in life. They tend to follow them very closely and thoroughly, and they prefer to have a system in place that they can trust.”
Although ISTJs do value order and follow a system of rules, they also have a creative mind that can step out of the box from time to time.
“In some ways, they can seem quite rigid and inflexible,” says Johnson.
