STEM personality type is INTJ, which is the most common of the cognitive functions.
The INTJ personality type is defined by its superb intuition, keen analytical perception, and very strong logical reasoning skills. INTJs are driven by a desire to understand the world and how it works. They are often described as being “driven” by their desire to understand. They have a natural curiosity that leads them to constantly seek out new knowledge and new ideas.
INTJs have a very strong natural inclination to be original and creative. They want to be the first to understand a concept, a problem, or a solution. Many INTJ personality type individuals have a complex relationship with their own creativity. They may spend a significant amount of time internally debating whether or not their ideas are “original” or useful.
In general INTJs are highly intelligent and logical individuals who find it easy to express themselves in writing, but often struggle with the written word as a means of communicating with people. They do not enjoy social interactions that can be characterized as “small talk” or “small talk that is not very useful”. They tend to lack a sense of humor and dislike situations that are potentially embarrassing.
