Tatsuya plays a major role in the story of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He helps Zero summon the ancient power of the Master Core by becoming a spirit. He also appears in the game's story mode, where he is first seen on the bridge of the Halberd talking to Ridley, who was sealed inside. Later, he appears on the Halberd with Ridley and Meta Knight as they are fighting in the air. After Ridley is defeated, Tatsuya continued to battle on the Halberd until Meta Knight is defeated. Tatsuya returns to Port Town to be with his friends, and a few days later, he joins the fight to stop Tabuu and later fights alongside the other fighters to stop Tabuu's army. He also appears as a Trophy.
