They are extraverted, which means they feel things strongly, but then they think about it and analyze it, which usually makes them feel bad about themselves. So, they hear the word "soppy" and think, "Gosh! That sounds like I'm a bad person! I who am extraverted and a feeling type must be a soppy person!"
In other words, ENFJs are not soppy at all. We're just more sensitive about our own feelings than other types are. If you're extraverted, you think about things and analyze them. If you're a feeling type, you feel things strongly. If you're a thinking type, you think about and analyze things. If you're an intuitive type, you feel things strongly and then think about them.
