Hillsman said he also believes that when voters are deciding between two people who are very different, they are more likely to make the decision based on their policies rather than their personalities.
"When they are different, people are extremely interested in their policies," Hillsman said. "They are very concerned about the economy, about national security."
However, when voters are deciding between two people who are very similar in their personalities, they tend to make the decision based on the candidate's personality, Hillsman said.
"When it comes to personality, people may be more inclined to vote for that person because of their personality," he said.
