Lucius and his wife, the former Cheryl Maddux, met in 2006 in a support group for parents raising children with special needs and they married in 2007.
In an interview with ABC News, Lucius described how he was struggling with being a stay-at-home father at the time. He also said that he wasn't sure if he could be a great husband and a good dad.
"I was trying to be the perfect husband and the perfect father," he said. "I was trying to be everything at once."
