Motoko Kusanagi personality type is INTJ, which may explain why she's a journalist. I don't think she's an ISTJ, but I'm not entirely sure. She's rather different from the female ISTJs that I know. I think that with her, it's more about her unique situation, and how it plays into her personality.
She's a very analytical thinker, and is highly competent with computers, but often finds herself frustrated with the lack of information that is available to her in a particularly difficult situation. She wants to know more about a subject, but doesn't have the tools to do so. She tends to be less interested in the people around her, and more interested in the technical aspects of a situation.
She is a perfectionist, and tends to be a bit of a perfectionist in everything that she does. She is very meticulous, and tries to solve problems in the most efficient manner possible. She looks for the best ways to achieve a goal, and often prefers to take calculated risks rather than taking risks that are more "unexpected".
She is also prone to anxiety attacks when she feels that things are not going well.
