It's true, ranchera is more popular in Oaxaca than anywhere else in Mexico, but it's coming. There are ranchera festivals every year. It's not like it's unknown.
I think this is more like the "stereotype" of an ISTP, rather than the reality, but I probably should have clarified. I was for sure an ISFP at the time, but it could be the stereotype of an ISFP.
I actually listened to a lot of ranchera when I was in Oaxaca. My favorite is actually by Javier Limón, called "Canción de la vida nueva" ("Song of the New Life"). I think that it sounds very much like your description of ranchera -I'm actually listening to it right now-, but I wouldn't know for sure because I don't speak Spanish.
