The empire was a very big one and extended from the Lombok Strait to the Malay Peninsula, from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Borneo to the Malay Peninsula.

The Majapahit Empire had a number of rulers, including Hayam Wuruk, who was the first ruler of Majapahit. In the beginning, the Majapahit Empire was a small principality, but it eventually grew into a very big empire. The Majapahit Empire had a very strong navy and a very powerful army. But the empire began to decline after a while. The empire was finally destroyed by the Dutch in 1521.

The Majapahit Empire was a very important time in Indonesia, as it marked the beginning of an era that would last for about four hundred years.

The Majapahit Empire (Javanese: ꦏꦫꦠꦺꦴꦤ꧀ꦩꦗꦥꦲꦶꦠ꧀ Karaton Majapahit, Indonesian: Kemaharajaan Majapahit, Malay: Empayar Majapahit) was a Javanese Hindu-Buddhist thalassocratic empire in Southeast Asia, based on the island of Java (part of modern-day Indonesia), that existed from 1293 to circa 1527. Majapahit reached its peak of glory during the era of Hayam Wuruk, whose reign from 1350 to 1389 was marked by conquest which extended through Southeast Asia. His achievement is also credited to his prime minister, Gajah Mada. According to the Nagarakretagama (Desawarñana) written in 1365, Majapahit was an empire of 98 tributaries, stretching from Sumatra to New Guinea consisting of present-day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, southern Thailand, East Timor, Sulu Archipelago and other parts of the Philippines, although the true nature of Majapahit sphere of influence is still the subject of studies among historians.
