ISTPs are primarily introverted — they prefer to think and talk primarily to themselves — and they primarily perceive the world through their senses. ISTPs view situations primarily in physical terms. They're quick to spot an opportunity and they're quick to seize it, and they're quick to lose sight of it.
The ISTP is also a people-pleaser, but there's a big difference between that and the INFJ's people-pleasing: The ISTP is more likely to be actively concerned with making other people happy and comfortable and accepting of themselves and less concerned with how they feel in the process.
And, in fact, it's not uncommon for an ISTP to perceive social interactions primarily in terms of how they'll benefit the other person. This means that if the ISTP is uncomfortable with a situation, they're likely to do what they can to get out of it or change it.
