Allegedly, in the days following Pythagoras birth in 570 BC, his mother, Thea, who was a priestess of the goddess Hera, offered sacrifices in the temple and in her joy and enthusiasm for her new son, she decided to sacrifice a lamb.

As she was preparing to do so, an eagle swooped down and snatched the lamb from her arms. It then deposited the lamb on a ledge above the temple door and flew off. She closed her eyes and prayed to Hera that she would give birth to a great man who would honor the gods and help his fellow men.

The boy grew up to be a brilliant mathematician, philosopher and scientist. His most famous student was Archimedes.

“He was generous and kind to his students and would reward them generously if they succeeded in understanding his teachings. He also understood that it was important to allow students to retain their individuality. He never forced anyone to adhere to his views. He had many followers but they were not ordered to follow him. He was not a tyrant or an inquisitor.”

Pythagoras (c. 570 BCE – c. 422 BCE) was an ancient Greek scholar, philosopher and mathematician, who at one point had dealings with a Piece of Eden, the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus.
