Doctor Nefarious was born as Dr. Lawrence Brain, a brilliant scientist and the oldest son of the late Lawrence Brain, one of the founders of Brain Corp. He would become a famous and wealthy scientist and businessman, and he would take over the company and rename it as N.E.Tech. He would take many of his father's former employees and build their own laboratories and divisions within the company. He would hire them as his employees and allow them full access to Brain Corp's highly advanced technology.
In an attempt to create a new world for humanity, he would create the N.E.Tech Empire, a world based on lies and lies alone. He would pretend that his empire was built upon a solid foundation of superior technology, when in fact it was built from lies, lies, lies. He would use these lies to build his empire, which he called a world of lies.
Doctor Nefarious is a fictional character and the main antagonist in Insomniac Games' Ratchet & Clank video game series. In the series, Dr. Nefarious is a robotic mad scientist and supervillain with a deep, distinct hatred for organic lifeforms. He is depicted as the arch-nemesis of Captain Qwark and later of the duo Ratchet and Clank. Throughout the series, Nefarious is always accompanied by his loyal robotic butler, Lawrence, who often proves to be much more shrewd than his pompous master. He has a famous trademark gag of that whenever he loses his temper or is put under extreme stress, Nefarious instantly malfunctions and freezes up, while radio waves of episodes from the fictional soap opera series Lance and Janice are broadcast through his antenna, until he is whacked behind the head by Lawrence or someone else.
