Since Warren was a devout Catholic, she was very impressionable and would sometimes get very frustrated with the other nuns for not adhering to the strict rules of the Church. She also felt like she had to be perfect and accomplish everything for others, as if she was responsible for other people's lives.

    During all of this, Warren was struggling with her sexual orientation and felt like she was a terrible person and that she would never be able to live a normal life. Around the age of 17, Warren had a religious vision of God and felt like she should've been able to love another girl and she thought that her life was over. After this vision, Warren had a rebellious break from the Catholic faith and became an atheist.

    Warren would often get upset with other people, seeing them as imperfect and not living up to her standards. This resulted in her having negative relationships with others and having an extremely low self-esteem due to her lack of faith and self-confidence.

    It is important to note that Warren was never sexually abused, though she had a lot of negative interactions with women and religious leaders that would instill in her a bad opinion of herself.
