Arnold Perlstein personality type is ISFJ, so it's not surprising to me that he's so focused on the "battle" aspect of ISFJ. It's also not surprising to me that you're surprised that he'd be focused on the "big picture" aspect of ISFJ.
But this isn't about personality; it's about the way that the world is organized. Who wants to fight over something like that? This is one of the reasons why I like JNFs. They don't get involved in all the silly little disputes that the other types do. They don't care about things like "big picture" or "battle". They don't need to fight over who's right, who's wrong, who's ahead, who's behind, who has too much, who doesn't have enough.
Instead, they just want to focus on getting what they want out of life. Which is pretty much to have the best possible life possible. And for that, they just want to find the best way possible to get that. And they're always open to learning about how they can do that. And since they have a tendency to be so focused on any one goal, they tend to have a very hard time being distracted by other things.
