Development
Moriarty's family is fairly stable. Although his father was an abusive alcoholic, he eventually got his act together and left his wife for another woman. His mother is mostly there for him, but sometimes she has issues with Lexx's relationship with Moriarty's father. His sister is dead, but she is also dead when he meets her.
Moriarty has a hard time seeing things from other people's perspectives, but he tries to do so. He thinks he understands people because he is good with them, but people often see him as condescending or insensitive. He often comes off as condescending or insensitive because he does not understand how others see the world, but this is more an internal problem than one of perception.
Moriarty sees himself as an artist, even though he is more of a technician.
