I have it on good authority that my mother has the same personality type. I was eavesdropping on her last week and she was telling me about a dream she had. It was about “a murder”. She described the scene with such vividness that I had trouble imagining it in my own mind.
I’ve always had a hard time imagining things that are unfamiliar to me. I tried to imagine the murder she described – the first time I tried I couldn’t do it at all. But after a few attempts I was able to picture it in my mind.
I have a hard time imagining things that are unfamiliar to me because they don’t fit into what I know. A knowledge of the facts is necessary to create an image in my mind. If I don’t have any knowledge of the facts, then I lack the material with which to create an image in my mind.
For example – if I didn’t know the facts about what happened in the murder, then it would be impossible for me to create a mental image of it.
