When I think about being an introvert, I think about being an introvert in the way that Dr. Carl Jung described introverts - that is, I think that being an introvert is about being cautious, cautious about your own thoughts, cautious about your own feelings, cautious about your own actions, cautious about what you say, cautious about who you are in the world. This is very different from being shy, which is a different thing altogether. Shyness is more about the fear of what the other person thinks of you. Not that I dislike shy people - I can't stand to be around them in public - but I know that I am not one of them. I am introverted in the way that Jung describes introverts.
