A Michigan native, Papierwaite moved to St. Louis in 2011 at age 24 to take a job as an analyst at a financial firm. He had been working at an accounting firm in Detroit, but it wasn't too far from the city's famed bar scene.
At his new job, he was assigned to the firm's "human resources department," which meant he would spend his time going through the applications of job applicants.
"I was a diehard social media junkie and I would always be on Facebook and LinkedIn," he said. "I have a friend who told me that I should start my own social media company to help people with their resumes."
He started working on his idea in 2013 but never got around to paying for a website or phone number.
