Arthur Young personality type is ESFJ, and this is not true. I know this because I am an ESFJ, and I often have much more in common with ISFJs than I do with ESTJs.
I am surprised that so many people think that the “child is the parent of the adult” is true. We are not our idealized versions of ourselves as children. We are our parents’ idealized versions of themselves as children.
I was a loner as a child because I had a hard time socializing and fitting in. In my teens, I was a member of the school’s “nerdy” clique and had a hard time fitting in there either. In middle school, I was not popular at all and didn’t fit in with the popular kids. It wasn’t until high school that I was able to fit in socially, and even then, I didn’t fit in perfectly.
I never thought of myself as being shy or introverted until I was an adult. As a child, my parents thought I was shy and introverted. When asked, they would describe me as “quiet” and “anxious.
