In 2005, she married her long-term boyfriend, who was also a politician from the PPP, and the couple had a child. In 2008, she announced that she was pregnant with twins.[2] She was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007 and a member of the Sindh provincial assembly from 2002 to 2007. In May 2007 she was arrested after she failed to appear before an anti-corruption tribunal.[3] In July 2007 she was convicted of the offence of contempt of court and sentenced to six months in prison.[4] She was released in October 2007. She is fluent in English and Sindhi.[5]

The master plan for the city was designed by Greek architect Constantinos Apostolou Doxiadis and divides the city into eight zones, including administrative, diplomatic enclave, residential areas, educational and industrial sectors, commercial areas, as well as rural and green areas which are administered by the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation with support from the Capital Development Authority.
