Also called "the artist" by Jung, Dursun Sarı (born Dursun Karataş) was a Turkish painter, famous for his gentle impressionism and for his paintings of women, particularly nudes.
Born in Istanbul, he began his artistic career in the early twentieth century, working in oil painting and watercolour. His style was influenced by the Impressionists, but his approach to life and character was much more subdued and it took nearly a decade before he became a member of the Association of Young Turkish Artists in 1923.
He moved to Paris in 1925, where he became a member of the Société des Artistes Indépendants, and also showed with the Salon d'Automne. He also exhibited with Le Salon des Indépendants and Salon des Tuileries.
He died in Paris in 1982, at the age of ninety-four.
