The city manager has the authority to hire, fire and set compensation for employees in the city government. The chief financial officer is responsible for managing the city’s finances.
Mr. Bouchard said he wants to hold a public forum and a vote in which council members can ask questions about the firings, or the city attorney can ask questions about the city manager’s contract. He said that he wants to give the council and public a say before making such decisions.
