In this case, the two were doing a great job of relating to one another. The point in their relationship where they were able to communicate their feelings, and where they were able to love each other, was when they were able to talk about their feelings of betrayal.
But I think the real issue here is that this relationship was not emotionally healthy for either of them. I would venture to say that either one of these personalities is in a very unhealthy relationship, and that the unhealthy environment is causing them to act out.
The fact that each of them needed to talk about their feelings of betrayal makes me think that they are addicted to the relationship, that they are in need of more control than they are able to achieve. They are using one another as someone to blame, as a scapegoat, and this is counterproductive. It is causing more pain and more harm than good. They can stop this relationship, but they will need to start by getting help for themselves first.
