I first discovered the personality type of the character of the same name in a book by Hans Eysenck, called Types of Personality, but I didn’t come across the name until I was searching for information on the fictional character on the Internet.
The first thing I noticed is that the name “Irena” was spelled with an “i” rather than an “e”. I quickly Googled to see if she was mentioned anywhere else, and came across an article in Wikipedia that had a comment from a character in a play by Edward De Vere, who said that the heroine of his play was named Irena.
I decided to use the name Irena as a pseudonym for this blog, since it resembles the name of another fictional character, Irina from the novel The Idiot by Fyodor Gladkov, which was also written with an “i” in place of the “e”.
My first blog post in this series was in December 2010. Since then I have written over a dozen posts about the character in the novel.
