Rinoa Heartilly personality type is ENFP, also known as the “The Explorer.” When she was a child she had a dream of flying, and although she was scared at first, she soon realized it was something she was meant to do.
She joined the SeeD academy at 15 and graduated the next year. After that, she went into the field and served as a SeeD for 5 years.
Rinoa met Squall Leonhart during the “First SeeD exam” and they eventually fell in love and married at 21. It was a very happy life for them.
However, the Sorceress Edea came along and foretold that Rinoa would die at the hands of her husband, who would have to kill her to save the world. The Sorceress then died, but not before leaving her mark on Rinoa.
Rinoa could not bear to live without Squall, so she tried to kill him by stabbing him with a knife. But before she could do so, he used his last bit of strength to use his gunblade to knock the knife out of her hand. It was the only way he could save her.
Rinoa Heartilly is the co-protagonist of Square's 1999 role-playing video game Final Fantasy VIII. She is a teenaged member of a resistance faction known as the Forest Owls. After she recruits protagonist Squall Leonhart and his friends, she decides to stay with his group and falls in love with Squall in the process. During their adventure, she is briefly possessed by the evil sorceress Ultimecia and becomes a sorceress herself once the spirit leaves her body. After defeating Ultimecia, Rinoa and Squall become a couple. Rinoa has also made cameo appearances in other Final Fantasy and Square Enix games. Character artist Tetsuya Nomura designed her to be cute, not beautiful, as he wanted to create a character whose personality would leave an impression on the player. He felt that the more realistic graphical capabilities the original PlayStation could provide, along with advances like full motion video, made female characters too beautiful and was overshadowing their personalities.
