In my family, I was the first to be interested in computers. As soon as I was able to use one, I started programming at the age of nine. I was obsessed with computers. The fact that I didn't get along very well with the other family members (including my parents) didn't bother me much, because I was in command of my life. I saw no reason why I should care what they thought.
I couldn't wait to get out of my small town and move to San Diego. I had heard stories about how much better life was for people like me there. San Diego seemed like the place where my magic would happen. At that time, I didn't know that it was actually magic that was causing so many people to move there. But I did know that life in San Diego was going to be better than where I was living at the time.
I was able to get a job programming computers right away. It was the perfect job for me. I could go where I wanted when I wanted, and not have to answer to anyone.
