Designed by Viacom, the program launched on July 12, 2005, with a sneak peek on July 11, 2005. The first official episode aired on July 12, 2005. The series' title was shortened to The Island of Misfit Toys in 2006. The series is about a group of children who find a magical island and discover that they have magical fairy tale-like powers. At the end of the series, the children are given a choice to either stay on the island or return to the world of normal kids.
The Island of Misfit Toys originally aired on Nickelodeon, but moved to Nick Jr. for the second season. As of 2011, The Island of Misfit Toys currently airs on Nick Jr. weekdays at 4:30 PM Eastern/3:30 PM Central.[1] In 2012, the series moved to TeenNick where it currently airs on weekdays at 4:30 PM Eastern/3:30 PM Central.[2]
