Lucy personality type is INFP, the way that the experience of living with autism is being described within this book is how I see it. It's told through the eyes of a young girl, who is technically still a child, but who is able to make good decisions for herself and to think independently. She has a great understanding of herself and others, she knows what interests her and what doesn't, and she's mature enough to understand the things that are important to her.
The book jumps around in time, through her life as an average teenager, to the years after her diagnosis, to her adulthood. She has great friends who are supportive of her and who help to shape her personality. She loves to read, play the piano, and dance. She's also very aware of the social norms that apply to her, and she's very aware that she doesn't fit in with them very well. At one point she says, "I'm kind of an outcast. I'm kind of weird. And I'm kind of strange."
The overall message I took away from this book is that it's so important for people with autism to learn about the world around them and to learn about themselves.
