Part of the problem is that he's a shitty guy. Since I'm a guy, I know how it is to be a shitty guy. And I can tell you that being a shitty guy is REALLY hard. Because being a shitty guy means being a shitty person in general. And in order to be a shitty person, you have to be in terrible company, in terrible relationships, in terrible friendships, in terrible situations, in terrible places, in terrible times.

The part that's hard is that when you're in terrible company, it feels like the only way to relate to people is to act like an asshole. But if you act like an asshole in terrible company, they'll make fun of you for it. Then you'll try to act like an asshole in better company, but when they make fun of you there either too they make fun of you for it or they don't even notice you're acting an asshole at all. And then it feels like the only way to relate to people is to be a bitch. But if you're a bitch in terrible company, they'll make fun of you for it.

Halcyon Digest is the fifth studio album by American indie rock band Deerhunter. It was released September 28, 2010 to universal critical acclaim. It was the band's first album distributed exclusively by 4AD worldwide (previously 4AD only handled overseas distribution while Kranky handled it within the U.S) The album was produced by both the band and Ben H. Allen, and was recorded at Chase Park Transduction studios in Athens, Georgia with engineer David Barbe. The final track, "He Would Have Laughed" was recorded separately by Bradford Cox at Notown Sound in Marietta, Georgia and is a tribute to the late Jay Reatard.
