I had the opportunity to read the book at a book launch given by a friend of mine who was a fan of Hadziuk’s novels for a long time. After the presentation, I sat down with the author and he explained what his writing style was like.
“I’m not a writer, I’m a journalist,” he said. “Journalists are very different from writers. Journalists don’t have their own style, they copy from other writers.” He explained how he wrote his novel, the fragments of the story, and how he put it all together.
He said that his first idea for the book was a detective story, but that he eventually changed the idea to a more traditional tale. He explained that a detective story has a beginning, middle, and end, while his novel was more of a series of short stories.
