This song is a warning to those who have been hurt or have been betrayed, as well as those who have been too afraid to ever say anything. The lyrics feel very personal as well as political, as she sings about how she's been "riding the wave" of the political process, but has been "caught in the undertow" of the same system that hurt her. The song is about her waking up to the injustice and hypocrisy of the Trump administration and how she will no longer be silenced and will no longer be an accomplice to this injustice and she feels like she must speak out and spread awareness. Sometimes we need to walk through the fire to reach the light. - My favourite song of the year. I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like this to date. It's such a beautiful, haunting and passionate song, which feels like it's been written by a prisoner of war or a refugee. The lyrics are so meaningful and powerful and it's such a sad and emotional song. I think this should be number 1.
