The Arctic Monkeys are a British indie rock band formed in 2002 in Sheffield. They have released four studio albums to date, with the most recent being 2013's AM.

In 2006, The Guardian newspaper called them "the most important band in Britain" and in 2011 The Independent newspaper called them "the British Beatles" in an article which commented on the fact that the band have sold more albums in the UK than any other band in history. In a 2014 interview The Guardian newspaper called frontman Alex Turner "the coolest rock star in Britain" and The Times newspaper called him "the coolest front man in the world".
The Arctic Monkeys formed in 2002 when five university friends from Sheffield came together. The band name was taken from a Queen song of the same name.
