He went home, cried to his mother and felt better.
“I don’t think this is what you want to hear as a coach,” he says. “I didn’t want him to do that, but I think it was what he needed to do. He had to be a man and take over the situation. He had to show the player he cared about him.”
His mother, Janice Novak, says she knew he would be good at anything he chose to do.
“He was always very focused and determined,” she says. “He was always very coachable.
