Savage Garden is an Australian alternative rock band formed in Footscray, Victoria in 1990. The band released two studio albums before splitting up in 1997. After a period of inactivity, the band reformed in 2000.

The band's legacy was revived in 2008, when it performed at the Big Day Out music festival across Australia, England, New Zealand and the United States. The group has since performed several times in Australia, most recently at the 2012 Big Day Out festival.

Members of Savage Garden have also participated in musical projects during their time away from the band. Darren Hayes formed the band Little Birdy with Nick Littlemore, with whom he had co-written Savage Garden's debut single "Truly Madly Deeply". Luke Steele also released a solo album. Darren Hayes then returned with his solo project, "Darren Hayes" in 2008.

Savage Garden—Darren Hayes, Luke Steele, Andrew Gifford, Greg Paul—formed Savage Garden in 1990, initially as an acoustic duo.

“I Want You” is a song by Australian pop duo Savage Garden. It was originally released in Australia on 27 May 1996 as the lead single from their eponymous debut album, Savage Garden. The single reached number one in Canada for two weeks and peaked at number four in Australia and on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single also peaked at number nine in Iceland and at 11 on the UK Singles Chart.

Larry Flick from Billboard noted that the song, "has a jittery synth-pop beat reminiscent of such '80s-era Brit-pop heroes as Duran Duran." He added, "Partners Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones are quite the harmonious pair, and they are photogenic enough to ensure instant teen-idol status. Top 40 programmers should waste no time in slammin' this one on the air." In November 1998, the single was re-released in the United Kingdom following the success of “Truly Madly Deeply” and “To the Moon and Back”. This release peaked at number 12.
