You can see this in the example of the Islander in the video above. He is overly critical of himself and then ends up making a fool of himself. You can also see this when he said he had read the book “The Mountain Path to Enlightenment” by Tsongkhapa. He was seen as a smart person and was very excited about the idea of reading the book. He then gets very upset with himself for not being able to read the book. He projects his negative thoughts onto himself and then it is too late because he is already acting on his negative thoughts.
In reality he had not even read the book and therefore he already knew what it contained. He had simply been thinking about it and the book had come up in conversation amongst other people.
