Ojo started playing chess when she was five. Her dad taught her, and she loved it. She was so good that she was the only member of her school chess team, which was pretty impressive when you consider that Ojo was in fifth grade.
Her younger brother, who is six, also plays chess, but not nearly as well as his sister. The two always compete against each other. “I would put her on my lap and she would beat me every single time,” says her dad. “She’s just a much better player than me.”
One of the things that Ojo’s dad really admires about his daughter is how she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
