Skids' first appearance was in issue #5 of the Transformers comics, where he was among a group of Decepticons who took part in the takeover of Kremzeek Island. He would later appear in issues #6, #7 and #8, where he joined the Decepticon armada that was planning on invading Earth. In the middle of the invasion, he was killed when Starscream detonated a bomb on the Decepticon flagship, killing all the soldiers and allowing the Autobots to regain control of the island.
He would appear again in issue #9, where he worked with Soundwave to capture Dinobot before being killed by Grimlock.
Skids would appear again in the third series when he spotted a group of humans who had been camping by the road, and joined them in their campfire. He was soon captured by a human trap and held hostage until the human in charge could be captured.
