Myers-Briggs is a famous personality test produced by Isabel Myers and her mother Katharine Briggs. They developed this test in the 1940s in order to help the staff of the American Psychological Association determine how best to provide psychological counseling to the people who attended their famous annual conference.
It was around this time that Isabel Myers' mother Katharine Briggs began to notice that people who attended the conference tended to be very different from one another. Isabel Myers would take interviews with each of these conference attendees, do research into their backgrounds, and come up with a personality type that she felt best described them.
The current version of the test was published in 1980.
