The reason this is the tertiary function stack is because these three functions are both dependent on extraversion and cannot function in the absence of extraversion. For example, intuition has to be extraverted because it needs to interact with the environment in order to function. It also needs to be extraverted because it needs to interact with other people in order to function.
In order for a tertiary function type to be able to function in the absence of extraversion, it must be able to be introverted.
