Rudolf Nureyev became a ballet dancer at a young age. It was a dream he had since he was a child. He trained under George Balanchine and began his career with the Royal Ballet in the 1950s. While training, he met Olga Spessivtseva, with whom he fell in love. Olga became his partner and the two were married after several years of dating. Olga became his wife and his partner on stage until his death.
Rudolf Khametovich Nureyev was a Russian ballet dancer and choreographer. Nureyev is regarded by some as the greatest male ballet dancer of his generation. In addition to his technical prowess, Nureyev was an accomplished choreographer serving as the chief choreographer of the Paris Opera Ballet. He produced his own interpretations of numerous classical works, including Swan Lake, Giselle, and La Bayadère.
