MBTI practitioners often use a four-letter code to pin down the MBTI type, but in the Myers-Briggs system, there are no codes, only pure letters.
I can think of two reasons why I don’t use a code: first, because it is not my job to explain MBTI to people; second, because I believe that understanding personality types doesn’t require any type of code.
For example, I have a friend who is an INFP. He doesn’t have any difficulty understanding me, and I have never needed a code to explain him. What I do need is a code to explain him to the people I live with.
I’ve heard many people say that one of the reasons they don’t understand themselves is that they can’t explain their intentions or motives, so they can’t explain them either.
I know this is always true, but it’s obvious that an MBTI code cannot help you understand your intentions or motive because you can’t explain them.
So why do we need codes at all?
