Jade was born in Texas. When she was six months old, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She later moved to Seattle, Washington, where she attended Lake Washington High School. After high school, Jade moved to Mexico for about a year. She then moved back to Seattle, where she attended Lakeside High School. She graduated from Lakeside High School in 2006. After high school, Jade moved to Portland, Oregon, where she attended Pacific University. While living in Portland, Jade earned her BA in journalism at Pacific University.
Jade's first furry fandom involvement was through the furry clubs of the University of Washington, which she attended from 2005 to 2007. While at Pacific University, Jade joined the Pacificuux furry community on LiveJournal.
Jade's first furry convention was ConFurence 2006 in San Jose, California. For this convention, Jade created the character "Deverse", a female fox who was inspired by the experience of being born with a tail.
